Sween in the 'Attle

I just returned from a mini transcontinental trip to Seattle. My friend Alicia moved out to Washington State a few months ago and I have been excited to go see her and visit a new city!!

One of first stops on my whirlwind tour was Pike Place Market.

This is the famous fish-throwing stall.
We waited a bit to catch a show (ie: someone purchasing fish) but while I "caught" a glimpse of them throwing a large fish, they were too quick to catch on video!

I wish we had a place in Boston to get such great produce!
Pike Place is also home to Starbuck's flagship store. I wish I could tell you why I didn't go in and get some coffee. But I can't, I just flaked!
We were then off to the most famous landmark: the Space Needle.

(Pardon my hair, it was crazy windy!!) That evening we headed downtown to a bar called Amber. The downtown feel had a similarity to Boston's scene. While I loved the bar, I also loved getting a late-night hot dog! Apparently the Seattle thing is to put cream cheese on your dog. I didn't venture for that, but still good to know!
The next day we stayed near Alicia's Ballard neighborhood and headed to the beach. The view of the mountains is amazing (although hard to see in this picture) It's a great feeling to be in a city yet intertwined with nature at the same time. I was impressed with Seattle's recycling initiative. Not only do they pick up huge amounts of recycling, the city also picks up compost! I wish Boston was as environmentally forward.

There were many highlights to my time in Seattle, one of them being Cupcake Royale! I went in thinking, "Right, this isn't going to be as good Party Favors" but my coconut cupcake kicked butt! It was so good.
And who can't love a place that has a cupcake named after you?!

Alicia also impressed me with her cooking skills! She made amazing chicken salad, guacamole, fritata and chocolate chip pancakes! Each were equally amazzzzzzzzing!

Thanks Lich!
