As the world changes and technology advances, even the simplest of things in life changes. In this instance, I'm talking about break ups. Even they seem to have a technology connection.
In the past few months I've heard of two similar stories.
In the first, someone I know ran into an ex-boyfriend of one of her friends. While making chit chat the ex-boyfriend mentioned that he hadn't heard from his ex-girlfriend in awhile. My friend said "Yes, that's because she deleted your number."
In another case, a co-worker had stayed on friendly terms with an ex. It was friendly until she got serious with someone else she had started dating. The friendship with the ex got complicated and awkward and ended in a series of heated e-mails (again, technology!) in which they both declared that they had deleted the other from their cell phone and to "have a nice life."
I know I only have a few phone numbers memorized: my home, my mother's work, my mom and dad's cell phones and my freshman year phone number (yes Beth, if you ever want to crank call our old room I can help you!) I don't even know my best friends phone numbers!
It's just funny to me to think that to cut ties and prove you're over someone, you must delete them from your cell phone. This brings closure to a whole new level.

Wow, that's impressive with the phone numbers. All I can remember is that we were on the second floor!
Hi, this is Pat's friend Audrey. I recently got in trouble (with said ex) b/c I defriended him on facebook-after blocking him from gchat. There are unfortunately many lengths we need to go to to break ties with people these days!
