Charity is a Good Thing!

This has been a very exciting week at my school. A local company is moving their office to executive suites and is donating all things not paper to our school. I was very excited with phase one: I snagged a few paper trays and this nifty (yes I just used the word nifty) hanging file folder thingy. It's made organizing my daily folders much more, well, organized!

Then phase two came along. At my desk I use to have a wooden chair circa 1959. I came in yesterday morning to find a much bigger, comfy and modern chair at my desk! The only problem is it doesn't really fit under my desk and I really only sit at my desk for about 5 minutes to check my work e-mail, but in theory it's quite nice.
But don't feel sorry for the old fashion chair, it now has a nice home in my rug area next to my easel. I use to sit on a student chair, so it's nice to have an adult sized chair in the room. I feel I look like more of an authority while teaching now.
On another note, if you ever work in a school there are two people you should befriend: the secretary and the custodian. I'm on the custodian's good side because I do things like close the windows (in the Spring) before I leave. Anyway, stage three of the donation is filing cabinets: a coveted commodity in schools. The custodian told me when they come he'd bring me down the nicest (sorry co-workers who read my blog!) for my room. This has been a great week!

Sweet! I couldn't agree more: befriend anyone that is "support staff" including librarians! ;)
