Thumbs Down

At work there is a book club which I have chosen not to join because I have trouble reading books I'm not into. Case in point my latest read: Salem Falls by Jodi Picoult. I was rivited by My Sister's Keeper and was really excited to pick up another book by Picoult. Salem Falls, well, has fallen short. I need to want to read the book, I need to want to turn the page and not feel like reading the book is a chore. So, as of page 139, paragraph 2, sentence 1, I have chosen to stop the torture and put down the book.

Thumbs down Jodi, Thumbs down!

I read "The Tenth Circle" by Jodi Picoult a few months back on the basis that it had dark cartoon illustrations throughout the book and a dark themed blurb at the back, but it turned out to be chic lit with pictures.

I felt dirty afterwards.

Al - I did wonder when I saw it on your blog. Kate - I really liked My Sister's Keeper until the very end when the "twist" came - I thought it was a little bit of a cop out. Glad to know I shouldn't bother with this one!

I totally agree, the ending was a total cop-out hollywood ending, but the rest of the book was so good that I have to recommend it!

I have not tried salem falls but have been through several other jp books. I have one of those addictive problems where i find one thing i like and have to have everything associated with it. Other decent (suitable for beach or airplane) books by jp - the Pact- Plain Truth- perfect match and keeping faith- stay away from second glance= awful
