5 Year Olds

Talking about MLK with kindergarten students can always be a touchy subject. They're usually floored at the idea that there were separate schools, water fountains and eating establishments.

Today while talking about Rosa Parks I mentioned how she was arrested for not getting up out of her seat. The kids were, as always, flabbergasted.

One little girl raised her hand and asked, "Was her bed in jail comfortable?"

So innocent!

my students don't understand why she wouldn't move to the rear. They prefer the back of the bus.
