There is a segment on E's Daily Ten called Get Familiar in which Clinton Sparks (producer/dj) voices his music picks for the week. Sometimes I feel like I want to rip off his trademark as I voice my musical opinions on Sween in the Bean.
(On a side note, watching Clinton's segments remind me of Kevin's impression of Ashanti: they are both always shout-talking.)
Anyway, Friday night Jeremy, his friend Jess and I went to see Rocco Deluca and the Burden. I never heard of him and am now a huge fan. He is a bluesy-alternative singer that simply rocked out with his jazz guitar and a drummer ala The White Stripes.
I was really impressed by the music, but disappointed as I downloaded his album the next morning and it's no where near as good as his life performance.
We got an additional treat with the opening band: honeyhoney. The singer's voice reminded me of Adele which worked well with their slightly blue-grass sound, banjo and fiddles mixed in with a little bit of pop-rock.
So I think with both groups you should "Get familiar!"
