Choo Choo

I once knew someone who had a theory he called something like “the cool train.”

In life there is a train. When you’re on it, you’re cool. You’re up on the latest in fashion, music, technology etc. At any point in life you can get off the train, and therefore are not as cool.

People get off the train at different points. Other people get on and off the train throughout life.

I like to think I’m a regular passenger on this train. I live a city life, I go out to restaurants, I read up on art shows and go to current music shows. But the other night made me question myself.

Elena, Noreen and I went to Estate. The last time I was at this club I was 26 and it was called The Big Easy. I was part of Liz’s Bachelorette party, we were lively (to say the least) and danced the night away.

But my 29 year old self realized the club life is now beyond me. I found myself making fun of the girls and scoffing at the whole scene. I was appalled that a beer was $6 and was freaked by the crowds outside in The Alley!

I couldn’t get over how many people there were outside.
People in lines.
People in lines so late!

Do I see early-bird specials in my near future?!

The cool train ran over my foot before I could ever get on and I've been sitting at the station holding it ever since.
