Last night KB, Liz and Elena came over. We grabbed a bite to eat in Brookline Village and then drank wine and watched Phelpsie on SNL. If you missed the SNL opening: Tina Fey was a dead on Palin!! We were all cracking up. While it was fun to get together and watch Phelpsie, he should stick to looking pretty and winning Olympic medals! He tried his best though, and we loved that they incorporated his mom into his opening monologue!
Today was dreary and rainy so I headed to the ICA to check out the Street Level exhibit. It was awesome. I loved, loved it. On a side note, a feature that the ICA offers that I think is innovative and oh so convenient is you can download the audio tours from their website onto your ipod.
Photography is always my favorite and Robin Rhodes' work was really interesting. He does a lot with photography and videography and combines it with a stop-animation of sorts. One piece that the ICA has is a series of photographs that depict a skateboarder going up and down a half-pike (along the lines of this basketball work.) The thing is the half-pike is drawn onto the ground, so the skateboarder is acting and posing the movement.
Another piece that I loved was William Cordova's World-Famo Paintings. He came across a World History book in the library while he was attending Yale. He felt that a lot was missing from the so-called world history, so he went about sketching and collaging 100 pages of the book. The pages took up two walls at the ICA. I wish I could have taken each one off the wall and brought it home with me. The main theme of the drawings were "street" images such as sneakers, speakers and trucks. Each drawing was intricate and beautifully drawn.
The show will only be on display for a few more weeks, but you should check it out!

It sounds great! I'll have to check it out. Did you know they opened a 2nd branch of the Museum of Bad Art in the basement of the Somerville Theater? I'm dying to go!
umm.. phelpsy was a big disapointment- loved tina though- sometimes i catch her show 3rd rock, pretty funny
Phelpsie was NOT a big disappointment! He's been in the public eye for all of 10 minutes and isn't an actor - what do you expect! I loved him. Tina Fey was amazing though. Although, throw her into a pool and see how'd she do!
