I Heart Radiohead

I know I said I wouldn't be posting for the rest of the summer but come on, I've been talking about Radiohead for MONTHS! How could I not post about it??

I have been looking forward to this concert, really for years! I tried to get tickets in the past and have been unsuccessful. I was impressed that Jeremy had seen Radiohead back in 1994: this was pre-OK Computer!! Yesterday I got nervous thinking that I might be hyping this whole thing up too much and hoping I wouldn't end up being disappointed in the concert!

Well, it was the most amazing musical experience of my life!! It was awesome, in the true definition of the word.

I went with Jeremy who tried to pump himself up with some Rockstar energy drink as we sat in rushhour traffic. The concert was at the former Great Woods (I refuse to use its current name) which is outside the city and is an open-air venue. Thank goodness the insane rain from earlier in the week subsided and we had a PERFECT day!
In route we got pumped up by playing each other's favorite Radiohead songs on the ol'ipod. Jeremy's favorite: My Iron Lung. My favorite: Creep (I know, cliche!) Jeremy drives an Audi and I have to say, luxury cars really have superior sound systems! I couldn't get over the clarity of sound in his car. We were discussing how it is really hard to know what the heck the lyrics are. Jeremy decided that Yorke could say "Blahhhhh" into the microphone and it would somehow be an amazing hit.

I also pumped us up by bringing Pez along for the evening.

Jeremy thinks that I saw into the future, looked at the night and thought, "The only thing that could make this evening more perfect is Pez" He also said it looked like I was doing some hard drugs with the little Pez tablets. At least it was the right crowd for people not to judge!

I couldn't bring my camera into the venue so I took this blurry shot on my phone. Yeah, our seats were awesome!!!

The stage was insane. There were LCD-tube-type lights from floor to ceiling except for a little cube of room in the middle where the band performed. The lighting during the performances was just phenomenal: I have never been to such a visually stimulating show!

The musical performance was also incredible. They played most of their latest album and I have to say, Jeremy's knowledge of music over all really kicks mine in the butt (I kept guessing the wrong songs!) They played a great variety including some of our favorites: Paranoid Android and Exit Music from a Film. Thom Yorke also played one song from his solo record which I wasn't familiar with but was beautiful. He really is an outstanding musician.

Jer and I had an awesome time and were sad when the concert was over. We were also sad that it took us an hour and a half to get out of the Great Woods parking lot.
But then we remembered we had more Pez, and were happy again.
Good thing this is the summer of a lifetime and I still have New Hampshire and Cape Olympics to look forward too!
