Unwelcomed Change

Everyone knows that their home towns change a bit while they're away. My town is always changing: stores close, new stores open and there is always a new house squeezed in somewhere.
But there is one thing that has changed that I miss dearly: our former post office. With the post offices nation wide being modernized, revamped and rebuilt, the former Glen Head post office moved a ways down the road. But with the move we lost the drive-through mail drop.
The old post office had a slightly-circular drive way. There was a lane with 3 post boxes that you could drive up to, roll down your window and deposit your mail. It was the most convenient thing ever.

With the move to the bigger post office and the bigger parking lot they did away with this drive through mail drop! And today, while I brought my sister's late Christmas cards to the post office, in the pouring rain, it was really inconvenient to have to run outside to put them in the mail box. I miss the good ol'days!
