Harry Heads

Last night a few of my fellow Harry Potter fans and I went to see the Order of the Phoenix. I'm actually not a huge fan of the movies. I feel they leave sooo much out that there is a generation of kids who will settle on watching the movies versus reading the books. But with that said, the movie was actually pretty good. I've learn to take the movie as an entity of its own and try not to compare it to the book.

The parts that changed from the book made sense and I think they did a really good job of telling the story in an exciting way. Noreen felt it wasn't as "kiddish" which might be attributed to the fact that it was rated PG-13! She also leaned over and said "It helps that [Daniel Radcliff] finally learned how to act!" He did a good job of showing the more emotional and dark journey Harry takes in the book. Of course there were some loose ends that are better tied up in the book, but overall I thought it was certainly a big achievement for the film makers. The film is sure to keep audiences entertained with its special affects and nice retelling of the story.
The acting was really great in this one. I thought that Luna Lovegood was really well casted: she's totally how I pictured the character in my head. I want to hug the kid who plays Nevel Longbottom and as always Alan Rickman did an amazing job depicting Snape. Another new character well casted was Imelda Staunton as Dolores Umbridge. In the book I hated Dolores because she was so annoying but Imelda Staunton played her darkside really well and she was really scary!

Seeing the movie made me feel like I need to read the 6th book again before the 7th comes out this weekend!
And Chris, proof that Harry and Hermione don't make out in this movie:

I'm going to see it this evening. Not really expecting it to be great. I always end up comparing them to the books, which is kinda silly, because the books are way too long to put on screen in any detailed way.

Still, it'll pass the time if nothing else. Looking forward to Saturday.
